The country fulfils the main required conditions regarding large-scale production of biomass, such as land availability, adequate weather conditions, inexistency of particular constraints regarding labour and the domain both of biomass-production and biomass-conversion technologies in the agricultural and in the industrial sides. This report describes the Brazilian experience on large-scale production of ethanol and on wood from planted forests (including for charcoal production). Brazilian experiences and perspectives on international biotrade are also addressed.
